The Eastern Tribe. The North Face Endurance Challenge Washington DC. Interview Erhan Endaz. By Neisa Condemaita and Andrew Arbuckle. English version.

Four centuries ago, the Powhatan tribes lived in the area of Virginia where the first conflicts between Native Americans and English colonists took place. Jamestown was colonized and as history tells, the two peoples failed to understand each other.
In the same lands where two civilizations came face to face and challenged by each others’ traditions, the North Face Endurance Challenge takes place in Algonkian Park, a reference to the shared language between the tribes that lived from Virginia up through Massachusetts.
This year’s edition was really an Endurance Challenge. Unnatural climatic conditions on a spring day; intermittent hail, wind and cold, but many people achieved and conquered.

The winners of the 50 mile race: Kyle Pietari won the men’s category with a time of 6 hours and 54 minutes and Helene Michaux broke the tape for the women at 8 hours and one minute.
We spoke with Erhan Endaz, the manager of the North Face store in Washington DC.
