2020 has been without any doubt the year of the FKT. Kristian Morgan, a UK running coach and elite ultrarunner, finished the South West Coast Path in 10 days, 12 hours, 6 minutes. The previous record was held by Damien Hall, who recently set a new FKT on the Pennine Way. (Enlace al articulo en Español)
The South West Coast Path is UK’s longest National Trail, which passes through World Heritage Sites and a UNESCO Biosphere.
The SWCP for 630 miles or 1000km of rugged coastline became the backdrop of Kristian’s mental and physical battle to push through fatigue and stick to mileage plans; his mother as support crew. He established an early lead, but found himself at a 100 mile deficit on the last day. Like a horse to the barn, he found the legs to get to the finish with over a 3 hour lead on the FKT established in 2016 by Damien Hall.
